all right, maybe some of you know this well, but some (like me before) might not be aware of this.
which one will you buy: cпpaвoчник xn--cpao-i4d1bown8f cпpавoчник xn--cpo-7cdk1bown8f cпpавочник xn--cp-8kci4amthf8f спpавочник xn--p-8sbgykqger9d etc... mny other variations... bad news - none of them is real! this is real: справочник xn--80aesinfeih9d what's the difference? in the first several examples the cyrillic letters were changed by the latin ones that look exactly the same. beware if someone tried to sell you something like this - check by yourself by re-typing the whole word in cyrillic. OR be sure you are doing this when register from someone else's lists because it could be just a mistake - like i just did. ![]() hope it would be useful for someone. getting into idn field - want to make sure, i'll know all the little things. again: i still see so many available russian idn domains - now try to make sure i switched my keyboard language before typing anything. )feel free to post my info on other related forums. i've only posted it at: idnforums.com. thanks. |

The registry now blocks mixed scripts. So there's no danger of regging these.
Sure, someone could try to sell you one - but as you say, you just need to be vigilant. Pasting it in IE7 URL bar will tell you it's mixed script phishing name anyway - so if all else fails, use IE7.

The other way to spot them quickly is to look at the punycode version. - ascii characters don't require encoding, so they appear clear in the punycode, with aq THIRD hyphen seperating them from the encoded bits. A third hyphen, with no hypen in the resultant domain is a sure sig of mixed script, when you're supposed to be dealing with pure non-latin characters.
