Yahooと日本語ドメイン (Y! and Japanese Domains)
mixiのコミュで話題に上がっていたのでちょっと書いておきます。 (This has become a popular topic on the mixi community so I wanted to write about it)

まずは検索結果を見てください。 (First click on the URLs and compare these search results)

Any idea how widespread is this phenomenon? Is it seen as trendy with certain age or socio-economic groups? I hope it's not just bloggers and geeks (like us).

It is still with bloggers and geeks. But don't worry, that's how these things start....

Theres a book on amazon in Japanese regarding Japanese domain names. It really covers the basics. Anything else it covers would be old news since so much has happened since it was published. I forgot what it's called but Olney mentioned it before.


Today I was running a search query in english(nothing related to idns). For the second time in the past few months an IDN url has showed up! I was at work and wasn't even focusing on IDNs! ;-)
