Where did it all go wrong?
In defense of the Americans, who else even tried it back then? Successfully, that is.
Even with decades of an ASCII internet, we still see other countries ignoring IDN. At least some Americans saw a profit in it and went forward....
Now we are at the dawn of IDN.
Bottom Line: If there is money to be made, we will do it. And we will try to do it first. Sometimes we may seem slow and indifferent, but America is not a bad friend in the end. I don't see all that many country codes allowing IDNs. Did any allow IDN before .COM?
