Will the rise of online video spark a new interest in “.tv” domains? Ex-MySpace chairman Richard Rosenblatt thinks so. You’ll remember that Rosenblatt’s current venture is Demand Media, a company that’s adding social features to domain names, among other things. Tomorrow, they’ll announce a site called ChannelMe.tv, which aims to promote the domain extension through some interesting marketing.
As of tomorrow, you can register your own .tv domain on ChannelMe, but soon they’ll add tools for users to develop that site into a personal TV channel. The service is the result of a deal with VeriSign, which wants to promote .tv as the preferred domain for online video sites.
