I know I am a pessimistic dude, but I deeply think we won't even notice ie7 release. Besides all the issues on update (pirate xps, incompatibilities, etc) everytime someone types an IDN it gets the classical verisign option YES or NO and is forwarded to the page. So...

What we will see is a steady and robust increase in hits for the next months and years.

What I really would like is for PEOPLE TO FORGET IDN EVEN EXIST. hehe. That day is the day people would be 100% familiarized using native language on the address bar of their browsers.

No sure what you mean by this. I don't get any YES or NO option when navigating to an IDN using IE7. Was this an issue with the plug-in?

The Chinese and Japanese already don't refer to them as IDN. To some extent that is part of the problem of getting the message across, because they already don't know what we are on about. There equivalent translate to Chinese Domains Names and Japanese Domain Names respectively. Hopefully, however, if we have enough correct reference in Unicode on the site, then the Spiders will eventually produce SERP for the appropriate bits of script.

Won't the fact that IE7 uninstalls previous versions take care of this?

I don't see the issue.

It's not an issue, it's a point. The point is that we are NOT loosing as much traffic as we imagine. People who type our idn domains on the address bar find our parked pages. Either you press YES or NO on the Verisign plug-in question, you'll be forwarded to the parked page. I am now aware of this beacause I have been checking the logs on my new adsense small sites.

That's interesting. I'm not sure I've seen that. What does the referrer look like?

How do you know what percentage of people have the plug-in installed?
