Default Vista - earlier than expected?

Not that a few months matter, but it's nice to know.

That would be a nice gift.

This Acer/Yahoo partnership article seems to imply that IE7 has gone gold and will be shipping with Acer PCs on Oct 1. Am I reading between the lines correctly?

I think January Vista and October IE7 were what we expected. Yahoo already has the specialized IE7, I hear.

Either way, it looks like things are getting rosier.

Yep, nice to know Microsoft is on our side for a change.

My fear is that they will do what FireFox did.... Unicode becomes punycode. They would justify it by stating that the unicode can still be 'read' by the browser, but would display as punycode for security reasons.

I just report the news. I don't make this stuff up.

I was under the impression that if you download the "languages" you want, the domain name will appear in unicode. That would help, but not required :-)

Yes, I think that was confirmed and tested by someone. But don't quote me on that!

Re Acer -I agree with GS' reading between the lines - October 1st seems to include IE7. Looks like good news.

I had already set my expectations for IE7 to November to avoid future disappointment. October would be sweet.

This is true. The address does appear as unicode if you have the language of the IDN installed.

We are expecting OEM version of Vista October. Boxed version January. I would guess IE 7 late September.
