Default Dopa Problems

<<The browser, which did not install the plug-in-soft of IDN, can not reach the IDN in china this time. It is happened before, but it was good again in a short time. >>

I have a feeling the local ISPs in China are dropping IDN support whilst they play around to get it work with IE7. Chinese are making a big thing of IE7 release, perhaps they have to have the stage set fair for it when it is release. If CNNIC and Microsoft are having joint press conferences, is it possible they are collaborating on the launch?

Yes, I think they've been fiddling with plug-in settings and maybe blocking or re-routing traffic going to verisign's plug-in - as suggested by Giant, check out the stats at Alexa for idn.verisign-grs.com shown best if you select "daily pageviews per million" and set the range to 1 month - check out the blip around the time things "came back" at Dopa, then went away again.

If that's not someone fiddling with stuff in China, I'll eat my hat.

You should know that using Alexa to measure stats is a joke.

If you use alexa is a cool you can procrastinate that idnforums is one of the largest sites of the internet

Oh I know.

But in this case we're looking at a server that the owner is NOT interested in fiddling Alexa, and the graph seems to mimmick exactly the blips we're getting at Dopa.

So that, to me, suggests that Dopa's performance is intertwined with verisign plug-in access problems from China.

Prove me wrong.

People using the alexa toolbar can "fiddle" the blips. If you don't have the alexa toolbar installed then you don't help the stats at all. It doesn't capture alot of the users that come to your site without the toolbar.

I've done my own web businesses for years and have known forever that Alexa is worthless.

Sigh.

So because the blip at Alexa happens to match the blip of revenue at Dopa, the only possible reason is because someone fiddled it?

No shit, Sherlock!

The spikes and valleys correspond very well to our traffic data. I'm convinced.

This is bewildering. The spike does correspond to Dopa stats in terms of peaks and troughs. But in terms of magnitude, it's a little out. My stats at Dopa are far crazier.

Ok, let's analyze.

1. There's a corelation between between verisign plugin traffic and dopa traffic.

So, this means many people accessing our dopa parking page are using versign plugin - which is crazy since i can't understand why chinese users will go and download the versign plugin.

2. Versign plugin traffic plunged and rose sharply on the 10th to 13th.

For what reason? Why would the isp disable versign plugin? As i understand,t he plugin just converts unicode to punycode, so users can still access dopa.
