Google and Web.de Release Customized IE7 I’m happy to note that Google and Web.de have recently released customized versions of IE7. These versions have been tailored by the two companies to provide the best experience with IE7 for their users. Like Yahoo!, USAToday.com, and others, they used the Internet Explorer Administration Kit (IEAK) to create these versions; this toolkit is available to all developers who want to create their own versions of IE as well as for corporations to help with configuration and deployment. Yes, hopefully they will do a Chinese and Japanese version and push them hard, as Yahoo have been doing. At some point, Microsoft might wake up and realise that by ensuring their competitors toolbars on each installation they are handing over the last vestiges of any hope they had of a securing a significant stake in the global search market.
