As Microsoft gets ready to launch Windows Vista and Office 2007 to consumers, it claims a formidable new foe it lacked at its last major consumer software launch five years ago: the popular filesharing network known as BitTorrent.

This third-generation peer-to-peer (P2P) service, already used by tens of millions of Internet users to swap digital music and movies for free, is becoming a popular mechanism for those looking to obtain pirated software.

You can of course download and install vista but you definitely can't activate it without restraining yourself to the out of the box state of the software. I uhhh heard something like that...

Ubuntu+beryl+aiglx looks better than Vista but it isn't quite as "read-to-go" as windows.

Been using vista for two-three months I think [the beta]. I actually really like it. Planning on upgrading my hardware sometime this spring, and will def. load vista on all the computers.

There are activation cracks already on the web. From what I've heard from sources the pirated version of Vista has been out for months!
