90% Chinese Government Bodies Use .CN Domain Names

The latest statistics from the China Internet Network Information Center show that more than 90% of China's government departments, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance and some provincial level government bodies have adopted .CN domain names.

China's State Council issued an opinion on strengthening of the government's website construction and management in December 2006 in which it said that the Chinese domain names of government websites should end with .CN. Since then, .CN domain names have been widely purchased by government departments of various levels.

As a top level domain name of China, .CN is believed to be beneficial for the country's information security.

Government departments have always used dot CN to my knowledge.

I have seen other versions of this article and indeed I think they may be posted here. I am fairly confident that the 90% acceptance rate relates to IDN.CN which will most specifically be used in IDN.IDN format, which is almost certainly not contentious and will undoubtedly be ratified by ICANN is some for or another.
