Default Live Chat

Some members have expressed an interest in this.

Do you want live chat, and do you have any additional suggestions to make on the subject.

Since a chat is pretty much wasted content that doesnt get indexed...i can think of 2 things...(if u guys even think its necessary)

Add a chat but only "operate" it as i.e a weekly board chat...Or...add a section for "chat transcripts" ..presented like if someone missed the chat he can get updated there and this way the content is indexed as well.

I agree 100%. I mean namepros has milions of members...they can allow themselves to have a chat. But if we create one, people will not be contributing to forum grown. Imagine this: a user logs in, goes to the chat, expends there 2 hours and leaves = 0 posts

Maybe we can run it on schedule meetings?!

I don't think that is the case.

Chat is for trivia, and frankly I can never understand it anyway.

Rubber Duck will spend 100% on Posting and Zero on Chat. I have been a member of other forums with chat, I detest it.

Having said that other love it and will spend a lot of time there. As long as they show up as being logged on then that is good for the forum.

I think a chat might be helpful at times when people just are sick of posting, but it does make sense not to create the chat in order for forum growth. I, for one, would love the chat... or maybe have a chat night... I'm not sure, but eventually the forum should get one.

I think we need to think about growing the cake rather than how it is shared out. I think chat will bring more people more often and that will benefit the level of posting rather than detracting from it. People that turn up for chat will read posts and if they read the post they will respond to them. Other that come to read post may move on to chat and then check posts again after they get bored with chat. The important thing is maximising the number of people that show up, and maximising the length of their stay. If you do this the posting will happen!

To be honest, i still didn't vote yet, just can't decide, lol.

Let's do what our members want. In the end, this is THEIR forum.
