Exclamation Rick Schwartz Cashing Out

I noticed this vignette on the TRAFFIC website:

7:30PM Come and buy as many as 50 Original Rick Schwartz vintage domains as Moniker hosts this special auction. Domains like Mens.com, Men.net, DarkChocolate.com, KinkySex.net, GoldFutures.com and many more. Many with type in traffic and reserves set so low that we are guaranteed to have some very exciting and lively bidding.

It looks to me like Rich Schwartz is selling a big chunk of his most premium domain names - at domainer prices to domainers, rather than to end users. To me, that is a shock as he has recently said that domains are “appreciating too fast too [sic] measure.” I’m not entirely sure why a person would sell assets that are appreciating so quickly.

However, as Rick has said many times:

I FOLLOWED THE MONEY!! I do that all the time. In anything. ALWAYS….follow the money.

Actions speak louder than words. Maybe it’s time to do as Rick does, and follow the money - which seems to be selling a big chunk of their portfolios.

Perhaps he's gearing up to invest in IDNs. Or maybe he already has... =)

Maybe he senses that ascii has reached it's foreseeable limits....

Or maybe he is wanting to cash out for another kind of investment opportunity, like buying homes in the US for cheap....

This should be good. I bet there will be some real corkers!

Truth is Bido folded on Rick, ticket sales are down, and lets face it a lot of Rick's domains are not going to get anymore favourable winds than they are today.

Rick does seem to be cash hungry, but so might you be if you underwritten the booking of large hotel and the conference ticket sales are just not there. The way things are going this could be his last big opportunity to shift some names. Many won't make anyone else's short-lists.

I think your right , Jose...he"s probably unloading a bunch of decent ascii, in order to pick up a few prime IDNS.

Loud loose shirts are very effective at disguising the true size of a massive gut.

I think it is not about domains, Rick is probably spooked by the direction in which the fed is moving, all the bailouts, etc, smells of socialism.

Someone must fund the bailouts eventually, and that money will come from the wealthy Americans like him.
