And when you look into the details it gets even worse! You can't just create and dissolve corporations like you can in most western countries. You have ongoing liabilities, and no support from the judicial system.

And who is gonna invest very much with some individual living there "owning" your domains? OK if you only have a couple names I guess....

I think they are using .br because in Brazil the national language is Portugese, therefore it is to differenciate between the two Countries.
So you can own the same domain name in both formats....I.E Portugese and Brazilian
