Default How much longer?

Just throwing out the inevitable question:

How much longer do ya'll think we're going to have to wait till the IDN market really starts to heat up? A question I would particularly like to pose to Mr. Dave Wrixon being the "ring leader of this revolution" as so aptly put in "another forum".

If things aren't starting to hum by April they never will. Anyway, we are just about covered up until then and probably won't do any more renewals after that for a while.

There is more going on than you think. I did a sizeable private transaction this morning.

I also uncovered during renewals some registrations that did not get logged in my database. Weather.com and Loans.net in Arabic would you believe.

Rome wasn't built in a day. I been doing this for nearly 3 years, and some have been at it a lot longer than that. What I can tell you is that our income this year will be six figures. Our annual renewals are about $30K. I think that just about makes me professional.

I admire your optimism, but quite frankly you are way off.

April is 4 months away.

by then the Asian AU IE7 won't even be out

ICANN may have decided what the heck they are going to do with dname etc.. but it certainly won't be implemented.

This is a long haul trip. You'd better get comfy, this is a 2+ year flight.

why?

2 things have to happen, a 3rd would be nice

1) IE7/Vista has to be taken up by large numbers in order for the advertising machine to start proper

2) Japanese and others mindset have to accomodate the typing in of non-ascii

3) some clarity on dname

this all equals proper traffic. This is what makes our names valuable.

China is looking good and Russia which is already doing well is going AU in less than a month, not sure where we're up to but I had a guy making reasonably serious bidding on Arabic last night from ND. This only needs to be proven to work in one market and all hell will break loose. Are you telling me that even if nothing is happening in Japan speculators will ignore traffic data from Russia or China.

The publicity in China is huge and if you put in a Chinese character domain incorrectly or it doesn't resolve for Dot CN you to be prompted to install IE7. Just try suffering on a mix of chinese and Latin character in the Dot CN extension and see what happens. If that is not publicity, I am not quite sure what is.
