Reason? Google Auto-Correcting of Queries has started!
![]() The Google Operating System blog reports that Google now automatically searches – or at least highlights – spell-checked versions of some search queries. As an example, when you search for christine aguilera, Google will not show you a “did you mean?” box, but show you an embolded “christina aguilera” anyway (at least sometimes*). The point with typo domains is they get TYPE-IN traffic without any SE being in the picture. Google auto correcting won't make any difference to THAT traffic. If the browsers start autocorrecting, THEN there'll be a drop-off in traffic.

Just remember a while back Microsoft started highlighting keywords on peoples web pages and when you clikced it went to somewhere decided by Microsoft rather than the page author. These people will try anything, in the hope they'll get away with it.

Stocks "crash" for much less. I was refering to the typo keyword pages that are build around a typo name and do get good Google SERPs. This is however, a very questionable move from Google. I know chances are small, but what if, I was REALLY searching for "christine aguilera"?

Seems like porn stars who use names that sound similar to celebrity names [Mary Carey anyone?
] might lose some visitors! |
