Default AWSTATS

How accurate do you guys think AWSTATS (The program that tallys up visitors, etc).

I understand Uniques vs Visits, but just wondering what really gets included in the uniques.

Is it safe to assume 20,000 uniques = different IP addresses --> 20,000 different people? [Forget about thinking about the same person using a different computer, etc. - This is just keeping things simple]

Or do bots get included in the Uniques? And if you have a website that keeps getting visited by bots, is it included in Awstats? [even though it says they aren't].

I'm just curious so I don't have mis-information when I one day start posting in all these "Where is all the traffic for our IDNs"
