Default Bill Gates says no more keyboards by 2010

Yep Bill says that the computer at least MS will be totally voice control by 2010
No more keyboards. Will all be based on speach input.
That will change everything.
Said that yesterday as he announced that he was going to step down as an active role in the company and take time to spend some of that hard earned cash. Perhaps relax and eat some apples....

So i just whisper my pw to the computer at the airport? (i guess they can solve that with finger print reader on every pc).
I just hope the pc will understand me quickly when i search for chicks with dicks from a public place.

Bill Gates bought DOS from Seattle Computer Products, and Paul Allen was the brain behind the first innovations.

Afterwards Ms just bought/copy any new stuff.

The Road Ahead was written by Nathan Myhrvold and was way far off in predicting the future.

There will be keyboards by 2010. I can bet a million dollars on it.

Television was supposed to have killed the Radio.

There will be mobile phones by 2100 and guess what? We would use them to TALK.

Gates was just a very talented and successful marketer and salesman, but never a guru.

Yeah. In the original version of his book he said that MSN would overtake the Internet.

You can pry my keyboard away from my cold dead hands, pal.

Voice input is not actually easier than keyboard, except to those who probably use both badly!

very funny... yeah, one does not want everyone to hear what they are doing on the net for sure lol !!!

Yeah - can just see myself in the middle of a internet call... one second, I will check the document....
"Arhhh - no sorry... I was away talking to my document... what did I miss" - makes multi-tasking impossible...

Also anyone who has used voice technology so far (e.g. PDAs) realises the fingers can be faster...
There is also one big thing with talking verse writing and that is people abbreviate a lot when talking... miss out the and, or and other words etc. or add in extra redundant words often as well (guess we will all end up talking like MS Puppets!!!)...

Dumb idea Bill... but might work for my TV set!!!

Cheers, Asiaplay

I doubt MS will even have realeased it's next version of it's OS by this time.

I don't see keyboards going anywhere soon. While speaking is quicker, writing has it's place and i think is needed for privacy and for it's formality and how well formed and better thought out it is.

They're just excited and making empty statements because of their Sync technology that "revolutionized" the market... oh and Silverlight that will revolutionize the market... wait! Vista too did revolutionize the market... so did msn, now windows live. and...

See a pattern?

For MS when it comes to marketing the recipe is simply to make a bold and idiotic statement. And it works! Always! It's always about getting people excited and delivering something that doesnt stand out that much in the end. Why change a plan that works?

Even if they do get a perfect speech recognition engine out there For english, what about other languages? What if I'm bilingual or triligual? How about using it in a loud place? What about mute people? 2010 it must be

If you're paying the 'marketing' guys some good cash (and they must have a few seriously good people onboard) then you can generate a 'buzz' for just about anything ..

Wanna 'sell snow to the Eskimos ... headhunt a few of those guys ... '

(Of course .. make sure you have enough 'snow' to meet the demand ... and that it isn't yellow .. (pissed on) )
