I found no direct translation for the combination 催情 on mdbg.net. Both characters seem to be Simplified and Traditional.

Individually they translate to:

催 = urge / press / expedite / prompt / hurry

情 = feeling / emotion / passion / situation

Not sure what they mean together though.

Google translates it to: Aphrodisiac

I'm wondering if this is a popular term for Traditional or Simplified or both

Hi - this one is not taught in class, so is a little outside my knowledge base...

However the literal meaning of "催情" is to "urge or expedite passion / sex" (means "Aphrodisiac" to me)... also reviewing the sites using it, it seems it is indeed used to mean "Aphrodisiac" (either as sprays, pills or tonics and also appears in dictionaries under pheromones etc.).

It perhaps can also be used to imply "erotic" (in Taiwan found this usage) and "lusty" as well... but these it seems are not it's main usage "Aphrodisiac" is.

Characters work for both Traditional and Simplified Chinese (however I am wondering if it is more a HK /TW Traditional Chinese term which is gaining usage in China, rather than the sole term used in Simplified).

I will ask another member who has more native level Chinese to reply to this thread as well... hope comments are useful.

Cheers, Old Hand (alias - Asiaplay)

Thanks, very helpful information. If the term is beginning to take favor in china, that is good news.
