Yes, but there is often a distinction between equivalents and variants.

I have a whole bunch of Chinese Cities in Trad that throw up huge numbers of Baidu results from Simplified Sites, and these were all registered after the block was imposed.

Most have assumed these will be valueless. I am inclined to disagree.
